Every season Mercedes-Benz selects a designer to represent the brand - a designer with the promise, charm, and talent to be the next must-have label for the fashion elite. The Mercedes-Benz Presents designer is someone who demonstrates passion for textiles and movement on a human as much as Mercedes-Benz car designer's relish lines and materials on wheels. Whether they've shown before or are new to the scene he or she must be dedicated, loyal, ambitious, and focused. For the fi rst show of 2006, Mercedes-Benz has selected the amazingly talented Kevan Hall. Hall exemplifi es the Mercedes-Benz spirit. A resident of Los Angeles and graduate of Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising, he is known for creating glamorous classics with modern sensibilities.
Fashion Rolls and Rocks
In Los Angeles, fashion, music and cars are a unique part of our identity - they blend seamlessly to inspire and motivate us - and this week at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week at Smashbox Studios, all three elements have come together for a greater cause. The custom Fender guitars that you see displayed are part of a local initiative lead by Southern California Mercedes-Benz dealers to support the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising (FIDM), the alma mater of many designers showing this week, including Mercedes-Benz Presents Designer, Kevan Hall. All ten guitars, decorated by local celebrities and fashion designers, will be donated to FIDM to be auctioned off for charity. Since 1927, the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel has been the playground of luminaries including Clark Gable, Carole Lombard and Marilyn Monroe and the birthplace of the Academy Awards. The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel has represented the epitome of the excitement, glamour and elegance of Tinsletown from its inception. Named in honor of President Theodore Roosevelt, the hotel celebrated its grand opening on May 15, 1927 and quickly became the gathering place for Hollywood stars. From its prime location on Hollywood Boulevard, the Hollywood Roosevelt is at the epicenter of the entertainment capital of the world.
The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, the oldest continuously running hotel in the city, was acquired in 2005 by insightful investors who recognized the opportunity to revive the landmark as a favorite place for Hollywood stars. Hotel owners Goodwin Gaw of Downtown Properties and David Chang of CCL Holdings formed a conglomerate with the Thompson Hotels and co-owner Jason Pomeranc to manage the property. A 30 million dollar renovation followed, spearheaded by designer Dodd Mitchell, helping to catapult the property to a level of exclusivity reminiscent of Hollywood's Golden Age.
