Also entertaining the notion of elegance and casual chic this season is designer denim, a closet staple. The Angeleno can complement the quintessential designer denim with the simplicity of signature basics, bringing attention to delicately jeweled earrings and embroidered clutches. She may find that fall's hip addition of trendy tees, leggings, and large cuffs suit her best or that the classic elements of vintage jeweled accents and rich leather or suede handbags are more to her liking. A few years back, designer Alan Del Rosario caught the attention of the fashion world with his eclectic mix of European and Western influences, realized in clothes of rich detail and red-carpet sensation. Soon after launching, Del Rosario was named "Designer of the Year" in California by Directive's West, GenArt LA's' "Fresh Face" for eveningwear and was seen on the backs of such Hollywood royalty as Michelle Pfeiffer and Minnie Driver. "Del Rosario" quickly found it's way into major retailers such as Saks 5th Ave, Nordstrom, Fred Segal and countless specialty boutiques across the country. His clothes were popping up in magazine editorial and on trend-setting television shows such as "Will & Grace". People were taking notice of this new voice. A moment to catch his breath, rejuvenate and re-emerge, the designer is re-launching in 2006 under his full name, "Alan Del Rosario", with the same ability to thrill that first garnered him attention; evening gowns that skim the body, in unexpected mixes of leather, lace and chiffon - fun, billowy ball skirts worn with intricate, sexy tops - and always an innate sense of how to drape a woman's body in the most beautiful fabrics. Ame and Lulu's quest for something stylish to protect their sports gear blossomed into a booming business of nifty club covers and racquet bags. Their fabrics are springy toiles and stripes, each cover piped in contrasting colors. It's no surprise that they've been featured in requisite high-class pubs like InStyle and Travel + Leisure Golf. Alexandre Caugant and Philippe Naouri Introducing Antik Blackout, a "rock n' roll" work-wear denim for men and women cut almost exclusively from black denim. The line is more fashion forward and has slightly less embellished pockets with a luxury-punk air. Antik Denim Vintage Collection will also be introduced this season. Military inspired tops for men and women including cashmere sweaters, leather jackets, studded skirts and vintage army-wear will line the runway.
